Do You Know Whether It's Safe Or Healthy To Vape CBD?

Vaping has become a common way to administer herbal extracts like cannabidiol (CBD). CBD is a naturally-occurring Phyto cannabinoid in cannabis noted for its many therapeutic benefits.

The primary reason many people prefer vaping CBD is that it delivers near-instant effects. Effects can set in in as few as five minutes. For comparison, CBD edibles could take up to three hours to kick on.

Many people also view CBD vaping as a safer alternative to smoking cannabis flowers.

But does vaping CBD offer any health benefits? And how safe is the practice.

This article shall attempt to put those questions into a better perspective.

What Are The Health Benefits Of Vaping CBD?

Most of the health benefits associated with vaping cannabidiol tie back to CBD and not necessarily the vape devices used.

Studies have found that cannabidiol might help in treating numerous ailments, including the following;

1. Pain

Pain is probably the most common health issue that medical marijuana doctors generally recommend cannabidiol for. CBD may treat pain by desensitizing certain nociceptors (pain-signaling receptors).

Vaping CBD might offer relief from both acute and chronic pain.

Acute pain is a type of pain that results from sudden injury to muscles and tissues. Common causes include accidents and strenuous exercises. Chronic pain, on the other hand, is a form of pain triggered by underlying medical conditions. Examples include arthritis, cancer, endometriosis, fibromyalgia, and multiple sclerosis.

2. Inflammation

Cannabidiol possesses powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, vaping CBD may help alleviate certain inflammatory disorders.

CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties come from its inhibitory effects on chemokines and cytokines, the main proteins that carry inflammatory signals across the body.

3. Nausea

CBD has achieved tremendous recognition in oncological treatment and research centers. That’s due to its antiemetic properties, which often come in handy for patients with chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV).

If you’re recovering from the silent creeper but can’t seem to bear the nauseating effects of chemotherapy drugs, you should consider investing in a CBD vape pen from a trusted brand like CBDFX. A puff or two after administering your chemo medications can help suppress the resultant emetic feelings.

4. Seizures

Seizures are synonymous with epilepsy. However, seizure attacks may also affect people who’re not necessarily epileptic.

Despite the cause or severity, vaping cannabidiol might help mitigate seizures. And there’s plenty of research to back that up.

5. Stress and Anxiety

Feelings of anxiety commonly result from reduced signaling of ‘feel-good’ neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine. Therefore, any substance that improves the body’s access to these chemicals can potentially mitigate stress and anxiety.

It turns out that CBD is one such compound.  Studies have established positive interactions between cannabidiol and serotonin receptors.

6. Insomnia

Combating sleep deprivation is yet another potential health benefit of vaping cannabidiol. CBD is an effective sedative. When consumed at bedtime, the compound can make you drift off to sleep faster than you normally do.

Research has also shown that CBD may block anxiety-induced rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. This can boost sleep quality by prolonging sleep duration.

Is It Safe To Vape CBD?

The best way to answer this question is to establish if there are any adverse effects associated with both cannabidiol and vape devices.

First off, it’s important to reiterate that cannabidiol is non-psychoactive. You won’t get high from vaping products formulated with pure CBD. The chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychoactive properties is known as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

You can determine that a CBD product is THC-free by checking for the following terms on the label – ‘full-spectrum,’ ‘broad-spectrum,’ and ‘isolates.’

Full-spectrum cannabis products contain cannabidiol and significant amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol. Research indicates that consuming CBD and THC together could produce more synergistic health benefits than administering the compounds separately. The catch is often the potential intoxicating effects of THC in full-spectrum products.

Broad-spectrum CBD vapes contain cannabidiol and many other non-psychoactive cannabis extracts, such as cannabigerol (CBD). These products won’t get you high.

Lastly, if a product bears the label ‘CBD isolate,’ it contains cannabidiol as the only active ingredient. Isolates tend to be highly concentrated. That explains why most of them are available as wax concentrates as opposed to e-juices. So, while isolates also won’t get you high, there are significant risks of overdose.

Most importantly, it’s worth noting that cannabidiol’s non-impairing properties doesn’t make the compound totally risk-free. Overdosing on CBD, whether through vaping the substance or consuming it in other ways, could leave you nursing several adverse effects. These range from drowsiness to nausea, dry mouth, irritability, etc.

Are Vape Devices Safe?

Vaporizers have been widely hyped as safer alternatives to traditional cigarette smoking. That’s because these devices do not involve combustion or smoke production. As such, there are no risks of inhaling the toxins commonly found in cigarette smoke, such as carbon monoxide.

However, vape devices also come with certain inherent risks.

For starters, there are always risks of a battery explosion. These explosions are often due to improper vaporizer storage or charging the device using the wrong charger.

But perhaps the biggest safety concern with vape devices relates to their long-term health complications. Long-term exposure to electronic cigarettes can cause mouth and throat irritation. Some people may also develop lung damage, heart palpitations, and chronic dry mouth.

Is It Possible To Vape CBD Safely?

Both cannabidiol and vaporizers can trigger a host of adverse effects if overdosed. Therefore, the secret to safe CBD vaping is moderation.

If you’re new to cannabidiol or vaping, it’s best to vape low-potent CBD e-juices. You could start with e-liquids formulated with as little as 5 milligrams (mg) of CBD and then work your way up gradually.

In the same breath, take as few puffs as possible. Note that chain vaping will trigger even more severe and longer-lasting health complications than overdosing on cannabidiol.

Another ingenious way to vape cannabidiol safely is to avoid inhaling secondary vapor. That’s especially if you do not know the chemical composition of the e-juice the other person is vaping. Secondary vaping may appear deceptively harmless. But if the other person is vaping potentially harmful compounds, then inhaling the vapor from their e-cigs exposes you to those very toxins.

Wrap Up

Cannabidiol can provide numerous health benefits. The compound might help relieve various common ailments, ranging from pain and inflammation to anxiety, seizures, and nausea, to mention but a few.

It’s also worth noting that you can enjoy CBD’s health benefits regardless of how you choose to consume the compound.

However, there are inherent dangers to vaping CBD in excess. These risks come from both excess consumption of cannabidiol and chain vaping. Therefore, always consider vaping CBD in moderation.
